Module 1: Surgical Management of Periodontal Disease

This opening module is dedicated to building the scientific and conceptual foundations that explain when and why periodontal surgery is indicated.

You will be guided through a thorough, current overview of modern surgical approaches for both straightforward and challenging periodontal situations, with an emphasis on clear, reproducible workflows that can be reliably implemented in daily practice.

The curriculum is delivered through 5 on-demand, theory-focused video sessions, each highlighting selected clinical cases to illustrate key decision-making steps.

Core topics include detailed review of periodontal anatomy and diagnostic processes, techniques for harvesting and positioning palatal connective tissue grafts, and practical strategies for planning and executing coronally advanced flap procedures.

Presented by: Giovanni Zucchelli

Module 2: Surgical Approaches to Correct Single-Tooth Gingival Recession and Achieve Root Coverage

In this second module, Prof. Zucchelli focuses on the essential surgical approaches and stepwise protocols that every periodontist needs to confidently and predictably treat isolated gingival recessions.

You will be led through the complete workflow: from planning and executing coronal advancement of the flap, to the precise methods for harvesting, handling, and placing palatal connective tissue grafts. The program also addresses evidence-based strategies for clinical crown lengthening and tissue augmentation, and shows how to employ matrices for reliable root coverage.

The module is composed of 6 video lessons, featuring 5 ReLIVE Surgeries. In these, you are guided in detail through each phase of the procedures, building both your manual skills and your theoretical understanding so that you can directly and safely transfer what you learn into everyday clinical practice.

Module 3: Advanced Techniques to Restore Soft Tissue in Cases of Multiple Gingival Recession

Having already explored the treatment of isolated gingival recessions in depth, this module with Prof. Zucchelli shifts the attention to the more complex scenario of multiple recessions affecting the same area.

Participants build on the methods introduced earlier—such as coronally advanced flaps and the use of grafts and matrices—which now serve as the fundamental toolkit for addressing the new series of clinical situations.

Through ReLIVE Surgeries narrated step by step by Prof. Zucchelli, you will follow in detail how to perform distal releasing incisions and apply the advanced “Connective Wall Technique” in real clinical settings.

The concluding cases bring everything together: key risk factors are identified and analyzed, with particular emphasis on how to prevent them and how to manage them effectively during surgery.

Presented by: Giovanni Zucchelli

Module 4: Advanced Bilaminar Approaches to Managing Gingival Tissue Recession

The bilaminar approach has become a widely adopted option for treating gingival recessions thanks to its high level of reliability and clinical success, often without fully appreciating the underlying biology that promotes superior soft tissue repair.

In this lesson, Prof. Zucchelli walks you step-by-step through the clinical workflow of bilaminar grafting within mucogingival surgery, detailing how the technique is organized and executed.

You’ll explore how single versus multiple bilaminar flaps are applied in different scenarios, and gain a clear understanding of why one configuration may be favored over the other depending on the specific clinical situation.

By watching ReLIVE Surgeries, you will observe real clinical cases that demonstrate coverage of advanced, deep gingival recessions and the management of teeth with markedly exposed root surfaces, translating theory directly into practice.

Presented by: Giovanni Zucchelli

Module 5: Advanced Techniques for Regenerating Periodontal Tissues

In this module, the spotlight is entirely on periodontal regenerative techniques, with three in-depth theoretical sessions designed to prepare participants to make the most of the subsequent ReLIVE Surgeries.

Under the guidance of Prof. Zucchelli, you will explore the clinical reasoning that drives the choice between extracting a tooth or attempting regeneration, based on the specific characteristics and severity of the periodontal defect.

The course begins with a structured overview of diagnostic workflows and an analysis of the various forms of vertical bone defects, followed by a thorough discussion of approaches such as the Wall Technique. Concepts introduced in the lectures are then directly connected to their real-world application during the ReLIVE Surgeries that follow.

Presented by: Giovanni Zucchelli

Module 6: Advanced Soft Tissue Management for Dental Implant Procedures

In this lesson, Prof. Zucchelli guides participants through a detailed exploration of key principles in peri-implant soft tissue management, with a particular focus on both therapy and prevention.

He clarifies how soft tissue recessions around natural teeth compare to those around implants, highlighting both parallels and critical distinctions, and walks through advanced clinical approaches, including post-implant vestibuloplasty.

Participants also learn to recognize the main risk factors associated with regenerative procedures in the aesthetic zone and how these can be minimized or avoided through proper planning and execution.

The module further includes a complete surgical workflow featuring implant insertion with a computer-guided technique, followed by an in-depth discussion of practical methods to optimize the final aesthetic outcome.

Presented by: Giovanni Zucchelli

Module 7: Handling Post-Extraction Sites and Peri-Implant Soft Tissue Defects

This session opens with an in‑depth review of current research on managing soft‑tissue defects surrounding dental implants. From there, the focus shifts to the clinical decision-making process for treating soft tissue dehiscence at a single implant site, highlighting what the periodontist needs to evaluate: how and where to place the connective tissue graft (CTG), the relevant characteristics of the graft itself, the required soft tissue thickness and volume, and how these aspects interact with the coronally advanced flap (CAF) technique.

Presented by: Giovanni Zucchelli

Module 8: Managing Soft Tissue Volume in the Pre‑ and Post‑Implant Phases

This module focuses on up-to-date clinical protocols for enhancing soft tissues around osteointegrated implants.

Key themes include strategies to increase keratinised tissue, techniques in mucogingival surgery for implant coverage, and the application of the connective platform approach to manage edentulous saddle areas.

Through 4 ReLIVE Surgeries included in the programme, participants will build the practical understanding and self-assurance needed to carry out these advanced procedures effectively.

Presented by: Giovanni Zucchelli

Module 9: Managing Soft Tissue Recession in the Peri-Implant Area

In the closing module of the “Zucchelli Channel” program, the focus shifts to a comprehensive exploration of how to handle gingival recessions and peri-implant soft tissues.

Prof. Zucchelli guides participants through a detailed review of protocols for immediate implant placement in fresh extraction sockets, addressing approaches both with and without the use of connective tissue grafts (CTG).

By completing this final segment, clinicians will be equipped to approach demanding clinical situations with confidence and to execute every phase of the surgical workflow in a way that supports predictable, high-level aesthetic and functional outcomes.
