Course Overview

In this video-based training series, participants follow step-by-step surgical cases carried out and narrated by Prof. Massimo Simion, one of the leading international authorities in bone augmentation. The course is designed to walk clinicians through every stage of complex bone and soft tissue reconstruction, from initial planning to final suturing.

Through this program, viewers gain direct insight into the protocols Prof. Simion routinely applies in his own clinical work. Particular attention is devoted to:

  • Strategies for handling soft tissues in both one-stage and two-stage GBR procedures
  • Techniques for bone harvesting and the specific characteristics of each graft option
  • Indications for choosing titanium-reinforced versus resorbable membranes and methods to ensure stable fixation
  • Practical steps to accurately shape and transfer the planned defect morphology onto the membrane
  • Principles of incision placement and flap release to achieve tension-free coverage
  • Detailed approaches to suturing for predictable healing.

Full Course Program

Lesson 1. Placing implants right after extraction in the smile zone, combined with concurrent connective tissue grafting

In this full-length surgical video, you’ll watch the removal of an upper central incisor followed by immediate implant insertion and concurrent connective tissue grafting. A provisional crown is fabricated and placed in the same session, directly upon completion of the procedure.

Duration: 1 h

Lesson 2. Crafting esthetic peri-implant soft tissues with envelope flap design and connective tissue grafting

This video presents a clinical case focused on refining the esthetic outcome of a maxillary implant positioned in the area of the central incisor. To enhance the appearance of the neighboring tooth, its apical gingival margin is managed using an envelope flap approach combined with a submucosal connective tissue graft placed at the same time.

Duration: 30 min

Lesson 3. Building vertical bone height after extraction: principles of socket preservation – Part 1

This lesson presents the removal of teeth 2.1 and 2.2, both showing advanced root damage and significant loss of interproximal support. To maintain the alveolar architecture, the case is managed using a dual approach: placement of a bone graft together with a connective tissue graft. This combined strategy is used to condition and stabilize the area in anticipation of a planned second-stage surgical procedure after a 4‑month healing period.

Duration: 10 min

Lesson 4. Advanced management of vertical defects: guided bone regeneration and horizontal ridge enhancement – Part 2

In this follow-up video, you’ll see the second-stage surgery for the same patient featured in video #3. Four months after the ridge preservation procedure, the clinician performs three-dimensional augmentation of the alveolar ridge using a titanium-reinforced, non-resorbable membrane.

Duration: 20 min

Lesson 5. Assessing 7‑month vertical ridge regeneration, implant insertion, and site-specific soft tissue thickening with a collagen membrane – Segment 3

Seven months after the three-dimensional bone augmentation presented in video #4, the area is surgically reopened to allow placement of two hybrid implants. At the same time, the nearby soft tissue is enhanced by positioning a collagen membrane to increase its volume.

Duration: 1 h 10 min

Lesson 6. Managing large peri-implantitis-related bone loss with vertical ridge augmentation – Part 1

This ReLive surgical recording is the first of two videos that document the complete management of a single complex case. In this session, you’ll follow the surgical treatment of a large three‑dimensional defect in the anterior esthetic region (teeth 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, 2.5). The defect, resulting from advanced peri-implantitis, is managed through vertical guided bone regeneration using a membrane reinforced with titanium.

Duration: 35 min

Lesson 7. Managing a large peri-implantitis bone lesion: 9‑month postoperative membrane retrieval – Segment 2

In this clinical video, recorded as a continuation of lecture #6, you’ll see the retrieval of a titanium-reinforced membrane that was installed 8 months earlier. The case then proceeds with the insertion of three hybrid implants, followed by targeted improvement of the neighboring soft tissue volume achieved by applying a porcine collagen matrix.

Duration: 1 h 10 min

Lesson 8. Managing an advanced regenerative dentistry case using a resorbable barrier membrane

In this video, you’ll follow the surgical management of an extensive post-traumatic defect involving both bone and soft tissues. The clinician employs a resorbable collagen membrane to build up the area in three dimensions, supporting volumetric tissue regeneration and guiding the subsequent maturation of the soft tissues.

Duration: 55 min

Lesson 9. Treating the resorbed posterior maxilla with combined vertical GBR and sinus augmentation – Part 1

In this ReLive surgical video, you’ll follow the complete clinical workflow for treating a pronounced maxillary deficit, highlighting how vertical GBR with a titanium-reinforced membrane is combined with sinus floor elevation and how this coordinated approach drives the overall treatment strategy.

Duration: 1 h

Lesson 10. Treating the atrophic posterior maxilla after sinus grafting: approaches to membrane removal – second segment

In this ReLive case, you’ll watch the follow-up surgical phase to the procedure presented in video #9. During this stage, three hybrid implants are inserted into the recently regenerated bone, accompanied by supplemental bone grafting and coverage with a resorbable membrane used as a protective barrier.

Duration: 1 h 30 min

Lesson 11. Managing Thin Edentulous Ridges with Guided Bone Regeneration Techniques

In this video, you’ll follow a case of horizontal ridge augmentation on a thin alveolar crest performed with a guided bone regeneration (GBR) technique. A non-resorbable membrane reinforced with titanium is placed and stabilized using an osteosynthesis screw, which serves as a horizontal strut. Throughout the procedure, detailed narration walks you through each stage of the GBR protocol in sequence.

Duration: 45 min

Lesson 12. Rebuilding vertically resorbed mandibles with guided bone regeneration and same-day implant insertion

In this video, you’ll follow a vertical bone augmentation procedure on the posterior alveolar ridge, carried out in conjunction with the placement of three hybrid implants. To stabilize and protect the regenerative area, the clinician uses a non-resorbable membrane reinforced with titanium.
